American Association of Suicidology
The American Association of Suicidology (AAS) is an education and resource organisation. AAS aims to understand and prevent suicide through the advancement of suicidology as a science, and the promotion of research, training, and accreditation.  AAS hosts three conferences on an annual basis.

American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to understanding and preventing suicide through research and education, and to reaching out to people with mood disorders and those impacted by suicide.

Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention

The Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention (AISRAP) is located at Griffith University’s Mt Gravatt campus in Queensland. Led by Professor Diego De Leo, the institute became a World Health Organisation Collaborating Centre for Research and Training in Suicide Prevention in July 2005. The AISRAP website features information on research, staff, programs and courses, and publications. 

Centre for Suicide Prevention
The Centre for Suicide Prevention has three main branches:
  • The Suicide Information & Education Collection (SIEC) is a special library and resource centre providing information on suicide and suicidal behaviour.
  • The Suicide Prevention Training Programs (SPTP) branch provides caregiver training in suicide intervention, awareness, bereavement, crisis management and related topics.
  • Suicide Prevention Research Projects (SPRP) advocates for, and supports research on suicide and suicidal behaviour.
Centre for Suicide Prevention at the University of Manchester
The Centre for Suicide Prevention at the University of Manchester brings together a number of projects that aim to inform future policy and service planning. It is one of the United Kingdom's foremost research centres in the field of suicidal behaviour. The centre is involved in carrying out national studies of suicide and homicide by those in contact with mental health services.

Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention University of Hong Kong
The Centre for Suicide Research and Prevention aims to:
  • generate and advance knowledge in suicide studies through vigorous scientific research
  • transfer skills and knowledge to front-line professionals through workshops, resource production and training
  • contribute to the formulation of social and health policies in combating the problem of suicide.
Choose Life
The Scottish Government's Choose Life strategy was launched in December 2002 and forms a key part of the National Programme for Improving Mental Health and WellBeing Action Plan in Scotland. Choose Life is a 10 year plan aimed at reducing suicides in Scotland by 20% by 2013.

Hope for Life
Hope for Life is The Salvation Army's suicide prevention and bereavement support program.  Hope for Life operates two training courses; and their website includes advice for helping those bereaved by suicide, statistics and a list of resources.

International Association for Suicide Prevention
The International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP) aims to prevent suicidal behaviour, to alleviate its effects, and to provide a forum for academians, mental health professionals, crisis workers, volunteers and suicide survivors.

Lifeline Australia

Lifeline operates a telephone counselling service nationally, accessible 24-hours a day, seven days a week. Lifeline also facilitates a number of training programs in suicide prevention and operates a self-help information line from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday.

Mental Health and Well Being

The Australian Government’s Mental Health and Well Being website presents content for the purpose of disseminating mental health information free of charge for the benefit of the public. Resources include programs and initiatives, policies, publications and funding opportunities.

Mindframe Media and Mental Health
Mindframe Media and Mental Health (MMMH) seeks to influence the media industry and the mental health sector to report mental illness and suicide issues responsibly, accurately and sensitively. MMMH conducts research in media monitoring, and produces a range of resources for media professionals, students and educators.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA)

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) focusses on building resilience and facilitating recovery for people with or at risk for mental or substance use disorders. Operated by the United States Department of Health and Human Services.

Suicide Call Back Service

The Suicide Call Back Service supports callers through a series of six 50-minute telephone counselling sessions. The SCBS website contains a wealth of information for carers, people bereaved by suicide and people experiencing suicidal thoughts including community resources, news and events and video stories.

Suicide Prevention Action Network USA
The Suicide Prevention Action Network USA (SPAN USA) aims to prevent suicide through public education and awareness, community action, and federal, state and local grassroots advocacy.

Suicide Prevention Australia
Suicide Prevention Australia (SPA) is a non-profit, non-government organisation working as a public health advocate in suicide prevention. SPA aims to support and assist individuals and organisations throughout Australia, promoting collaboration and partnerships in suicide prevention, intervention and postvention.

Suicide Prevention Information New Zealand

Suicide Prevention Information New Zealand (SPINZ) is a national information service assisting communities and services to prevent suicide by providing them with best practice information. SPINZ is part of the Mental Health Foundation of New Zealand.

Suicide Prevention Resource Center
The Suicide Prevention Resource Centre (SPRC) provides prevention support, training, and resources to assist organisations and individuals to develop suicide prevention programs, interventions and policies, and to advance the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention.
