Dedicated to providing the best available evidence and resources to guide activities aimed at reducing the rate at which people take their lives in Australia, this site is designed for people across the community who are involved in suicide and self-harm prevention activities.

What's New

The first national whole-of-government strategy specifically addressing Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suicide has been launched, supported by $17.8 million in new funding over four years. For more info, see the media release and strategy document

Nominations are now open for the Mental Health Matters Awards, recognising the work of those who seek to improve mental health in the community. 

The National Mental Health Commission's report 'Can we talk...about mental illness and suicide?' highlights community attitudes towards mental health and suicide. 

Suicide prevention, substance abuse and better mental health planning will be the focus of research efforts at two new Centres of Research Excellence based at the University of NSW. Read more
